PLAN SET REQUIREMENTS


Compare your proposed project with the review responsibilities listed below. Follow the instructions in each section, total the number of sets as applicable, and submit that number of plan sets with your permit application.

#1 - Two sets of plans are the minimum required for Building Division Review. This is for projects that require review only by the Building Inspection Division, when there is no addition of square footage. 2
#2 - The addition of square footage requires the City to provide a copy of the drawings to the Santa Clara County Assessor. If you are adding square footage, add one set of plans. +1
#3 - If your project was reviewed by the Architectural Review Board (ARB) or if your project involves a change in the building location, height or size, one set of plans is required for review by the Planning Division. If this applies to your project, add one set of plans. +1
#4 - If your project is:
a. residential and located west of Interstate 280; or
b. for a Commercial, Industrial or Multifamily use; or
c. for a building containing Hazardous Materials,

one set of plans is required for review by the Fire Department. Add one set of plans if any of these are true.

#5 - If your project involves grading or drainage changes or involves work in the public right-of-way, one set of plans is required for review by the Public Works Department. If you need Public Works approval, add one set of plans. +1
#6A - If you are making changes in Utility usage or relocating or changing the electric, gas, wastewater, or water service, the Utilities Department will need a site plan and load sheet. The Utilities Department is split into two sections: Electric and Water, Gas & Wastewater. If you are affecting the Electric Utilities, add one set of plans. +1
#6B - If you are affecting the Water, Gas or Wastewater Utilities, add one set of plans. +1
#7 - If your project is subject to the sewer Use Ordinance (for instance, restaurants) or if you have treated Hazardous Materials that discharge into sanitary sewers, one set of plans is required by Water Quality Control. Add one set of plans. +1
